Ash K's Relationships 102 Mixtape Review

As you may know, Ms. Ash K has released a new mixtape with 13 songs: 7 covers and 6 original songs.

I have been a fan of AK since I heard her cover to Tori Kelly's song on Youtube. I've always felt her music takes me somewhere else when I hear her sing. Every song is like a breath of fresh air for me. She sings song I can strongly relate to (her cover to Latch has been on repeat since 2/14). Therefore, I pass them on to others. Back to the topic, I wrote out the description to each song in my own personal view and my favorite lyrics from each song as I have previously done with each of her mixtapes. 1. Eat Ya Heart Out (Prod. by Stackz Beatz)

My favorite lyrics: These last few years, I've shed a few tears over a dude that broke my heart like a set of glass. & even though I put him first, he always put me last like my name start with a Z on roll for the class. He would betray my trust all for a girl he lust and I would keep taking him back like the school bus.

Meaning behind the song: To everyone who played/hurt/lied to or on her, eat your heart out.

2. Stayed Down (AKover)

My favorite lyrics: Its not fair. You don't care. When it matters, you're not there. When I leave, you come running. You won't let me go for nothing. Then you tell me that you love me and I say that you don't mean it. Then you tell me I'm your heart and I say that I don't see it.
Meaning behind the song: Ash K has stayed down for her man although he'd rather be out cheating. Still, she holds in her pain like everyone else she knows. This song is a cover to Furthest Thing by Drake.

3. I Know You (Prod. By Yung Mel)

My favorite lyrics: My only regret is I gave you one too many chances. So instead of trying to fix it, you just keep expecting chances.
Meaning behind the song: She knows her man and when he's lying to her. Instead of him trying to fix their relationship, he chooses to go out, fuck up again and come back for another chance. Ash K's vocals on this song are superb & the message is very deep.

4. Bitter Sweet Freestyle (AKover)

My favorite lyrics: Really we shouldve never started. Maybe then I wouldn't be brokenhearted. I really wish that I would've listened.
Meaning behind song: Bittersweet is about a brokenhearted Ash K who had to find out through her best friend that she was not the only one her boyfriend was dating. Ash K was in love with her boyfriend and ignored all the warnings she was given about him being no good. Overall, the guy left her brokenhearted and reluctant to want to love again. This song is a cover to Jhene Aiko's Comfort Inn Ending Freestyle.

5. Karma (AKover)

My favorite lyrics: I admit it. Want me to keep it real? Well fuck it I admit it. Turned me into a bitch. Yea, fuck it, I admit it. Now you got me hoping when your karma come that you get a bitch that won't do ya right.
Meaning behind the song: The title says it all. Ash K hopes that the guy who hurt her will be hurt by his next girlfriend. Because of the deep pain he caused her, she's now a bitch when it comes to love. I am not certain which song this is a cover over. Sorry. (This is my 2nd favorite on the mixtape.)

6. Swangin Ft. Fat Pimp (AKover)

My favorite lyrics: Don't assume cause I give you all these chances, babe, that Im gone stick with you through everything. But I'll b here just swangin'.
Meaning behind the song: The song is real laid-back. She's singing that although she's the same person despite the fame that she won't be around through everything for someone who keeps needing chances. This song is a cover to Connect by Drake.

7. We Tried (Prod. by Yung Mel)

My favorite lyrics: You lie so much that even when you tell the truth, I can't believe you.
Meaning behind the song: Ash K and her man are lacking communication in their relationship. He'll cheat, she'll leave and come back. Then it happens all over again. She's too caught up in the relationship so she's mad open about her feelings. This is a cover to J. Cole's song, Nothing Lasts Forever.

8. Loyal (AKover)

My favorite lyrics: I know that I'm a queen. So I'ma wait for a king.
Meaning behind the song: Ash K sings that the boys in our generation don't believe in loyalty. "They can never be loyal. Its not in their blood. Having one girl just ain't wassup. They gotta hav a few of us." Boys just wanna be players but honestly, who has time for that? The song is very well put together. I instantly loved it when I heard it on YouTube. I love her vocals on this song. Btw, this song is a cover to Royals by Lorde. (This is my 3rd favorite on the mixtape.)

9. Too Deep (Prod. by Hink Aaron)

My favorite lyrics: I'm trapped in my emotions and they won't let me go. My heart is taking over my mind and I no longer have control.
Meaning behind the song: She wasn't supposed to need or fall for the guy she just met. However, now she's trapped in her emotions over this situation and can't let go of him. It wasn't supposed to be that way. He was simply supposed to be for the moment with no emotions attached.

10. Crazy (Feat. Showtym) (Prod. by Mr. Bipolar)

My favorite lyrics: We give each other brain. We're both psychotic thinkers. I told my niggas bout you. They said stop thinking bout you. If it was that easy, Eazy-E would have been a doctor.

Meaning behind the song: The guy, Ash K can't stop thinking about, has her feeling out of the norm. She's hypnotized by the way he loves her. As for Showtym, the girl has him doing things he wouldn't normally do. He's lost in the way he feels about her. I like this. Its very creative lyrically.

11. This Could Be Something (Prod. by Wonderboy): 

My favorite lyrics: Maybe you could be my Mr. Perfect I created deep in my mind.
Meaning behind the song: I really like this song. Its about a girl falling for a guy that she thinks may be exactly what she needs. This could actually be something worthwhile yet she keeps herself level-headed by saying this could be nothing at all. Just to keep her hopes even out. This song remind me of a girl version of Drizzy's Something. I really wish it was longer. Ash K is good at leaving suspense!

12. Latch (AKover) 

My favorite lyrics: Now I got you in my space. I won't let go of you. Got you shackled in my embrace, I'm latching onto you. (I love all of the lyrics. This was hard to choose.)
Meaning behind the song: The song is about falling in love. Mainly, now that she has him close to her, she doesn't plan on letting him go. Now that's they have falling in love (shackled in my embrace), she feels its safe to lock in her guy's love/feelings (lock in your love). This is my absolute favorite cover of Ash K's. 13. Drunk N Love (AKover) (Piano by Vkeyz) 

My favorite lyrics:
Meaning behind the song: Well, this is a cover to Beyonce's Drunk In Love. So, if you haven't heard all the buzz about this song, I advise you to google the meaning lol. I will just tell you it's about sexing all night. Go ahead, google. I'll be here when you're done reading lol. Anyway, Ash K adds her own twist to this song by at 2:50. I enjoy the acoustic version of this song especially because of Vkeyz's on the keys!
