Synopsis of Comfort Inn Ending by Jhene Aiko

Aside from being a beautiful goddess, Jhene Aiko has an amazing way with words. When you listen to her music, you can't help but find yourself drifted into the lyrics of the song, depicting each lyric as if it was written for you. At least that's how I feel when I listen to her songs. On May 23, 2013, Jhene released her newest song, Comfort Inn Ending Freestyle, on her Tumblr for her fans. When I first heard the song, like others, I was confused. After listening to a few more times, I came up with a meaning.

In Comfort Inn Ending Freestyle, Jhene is speaking in third person about being in love with a guy who, like others, played her. Her best friend, Krissy, would help Jhene see what she didn't want to see in those guys. Krissy is a real friend. Jhene was the only one in love in her and the guy's relationship so it ended after having one last night of passion in the hotel room of the Comfort Inn.

Still confused? Well, let's go in depth a bit.

In the first verse, Jhene sings, "thought I told you not to trust these hoes. Say they love you when you know they don't. Say they will but shit, you know they wont. Yeah, you hear me, you don't feel me though. & you are not the only one. You are not the only one." By this she means, she told herself not to trust these hoes (male or female) because they'll say they love you but they really don't. She tells her audience that they're listening to her song but don't feel her pain. & with "you are not the only one," her audience is not the only ones who have been hurt or played in a relationship by someone they thought loved them.

In the second verse, her lyrics get deeper. This is where many people may have gotten confused. "Okay, fuck it. It was Dominic, David, Brayden, all of them did the same to you. Markese, and Sean and Brian, all of them had their way with you. Ever so often you'd get lost and miss out on everything. Shoutout to Krissy that's my bitch cause she tells me everything. And I was not the only one. I was not the only one to you. So I was the only lonely one." The first two lines Jhene is naming off guys who have mistreated her and have used her for sex. Ever so often she gets blinded by love and doesn't think clearly so she misses out on everything bad they do. Krissy is her bitch (best friends usually use this term) because she tells her everything Jhene about the guys she dates and what she doesn't want to see in them. Jhene realizes she was not the only one the guy she was in love with was seeing so she was the only lonely one in the relationship.

The third verse is short but to the point: "Really we had the perfect end. That night we shared at that the Comfort Inn we made love like the world would have ended. If either of us had admitted, we were in love. But I was the only one. So I was the only lonely one." The perfect end was how Jhene and her guy spent their night before breaking up. They made love like the world would have ended but only one of them were in love. Neither of them had admitted to having feelings for each other but Jhene thought there was a mutual feeling between them. That's why she sings she was the only one: the only lonely one.

On Twitter, Jhene later tweeted "Comfort inn ending freestyle" is a part of 1 of 14. Stay continued..." I can't wait to hear the rest of this story.
